- I loved going on a Mon evening and loved every minute of the class. It got me out of my house , let me use my brain, meet new friendly people and had a delicious supper for the next night ! I was most definately treated as an individual . I would say it was 1/3 men and 2/3rds women in our class. A few of us went out after the class and we will be keeping in touch.

- the course was a part time one attended by people with varying levels of ability and expereince. The teaching was pitched at the correct level and started each week with an hour of theory followed by 4hrs of practical work in the kitchens. The tutors we had were knoweledgable and enthusiastic about their subjects. The practical assignments allowed you to be as creative/adventureous as you wished.
- Student facilities *****
- The kitchens were very modern with state of the art equipment. We had an OfSted inspection while we were on course, resulting in Cente of Excellence status.
- Social life *****
- Great mix of ages from 17 - 60+. Gender mix about 50/50 too which was good. Very socialable lot went out for end of course drinks. All very supportive of each other throughout the course with help and advise when needed.

- The teacher is called Sharmini a very lovely indian lady. The course is aimed at anyone wishing to learn authentic indian dishes. A basic level of cooking knowledge is required i.e. do you know how to turn an oven on, do you know what a pan looks like etc. I have been on the course over 3 periods i.e. spring, summer, autumn. Sharmini style of teaching is to make the dish with you, so you all bring your ingredients, and watch, learn and repeat. Her butter chicken and Bhatura bread is to die for!! Great fun and surprisingly there were more men at the class than women!! Everyone has a right good laugh. In 10 weeks you will learn quite a few dishes. Thumbs up for this course. I bought the first 10 weeks as a Xmas pressie for my father in law and tagged along with him for moral support. At the end of the course we just kept signing up for the new term as Sharmini makes sure you do not repeat the same dishes each term.
- Student facilities *****
- The course is held at Joseph Rowntree School in the Home Ecomonics dept. The classroom has roughly 12 cookers and workstations. My advice to anyone is to go to Dunelm and purchase a ?5 small wok which is essential for deep frying things like bread, onion bhaji etc. Also grab yourself a ?1 bamboo/wire spoon to scoop out the stuff from the wok. The school provides most things but people tended to bring their own. I ended up bying a colapsable plastic trolley thing from Lakeland Plastics (?20 ish) which was brilliant to load it up and drag along from the car park to the room. A couple of good sized plastics snap shut containers are very handly. Also if you forget some ingredients the class usually has enough to cover everyone.
- Social life *****
- People were friendly and we all had a good laugh. Sharing ingredients also helped for anyone who may have struggled finding certain items. Sharmini limits the class to 12 people so that everyone has a cooker and station to work in. There is a good atmosphere in all the classes with a wide variety of people.

- The teachers name is Sharmini a lovely indian lady. The course is aimed at anyone wishing to learn authentic indian dishes including starters, main and pudding. Sharmini's style of teaching is to gather the class around her cooker and demonstrate the ingredients, actual cooking in stages and then sends you all off to your workstations for you to start. She will then hover around each person checking in on what they are doing and helping you if yours does not look like hers. Sharmini has a set range of recipes for the class to make but if you are desperate to make certain things, she will ask the class and if everyone wants to learn that particular dish she will make sure you make it. You will definitely come away with more knowledge of indian food and how to make it taste better than the takeaway. At the end of the 10 week session, they will ask you if you want to register for the next 10 weeks before the course is open to the general public. I did this 3 times. In each 10 week session Sharmini makes sure that you make new dishes and does not repeat the same dish. A basic level of kitchen understanding is required i.e. do you know how to turn on an oven, or have you ever seen a pan and cooking spoon before. You might laugh but you would be surprised at how many men turned up and learn basic cooking from scratch! I was surprised to see how many men wanted to learn and in the last class it was only 3 women and 9 men. Don't be put off by this, the atmosphere is great and lots of laughs.
- Student facilities *****
- The classroom has 12 cookers and 12 workstations. Although the school provides things like pans etc you may wish to bring your own, which most people did. I found I ended up buying some extra things like ?5 mini wok from Dunelm which is invaluable for deep frying, along with a metal mesh slotted bamboo spoon ?1 Dunelm for scooping things out of the hot oil. A couple of good sized snap shut plastic containers also go down a treat along with something to hold all your spices. I also bought a plastic folding trolley thing from Lakeland Plastics ?20 ish which was brilliant to load up all my stuff in and drag from the carpark to the classroom as carrying lots of carrier bags became knackering down all those corridors. Cookers are also Gas and Electric so which ever you are used to helps.
- Social life *****
- Each week we looked forward to going and did not skive one lesson. Sharmini is a great lady with lots of laughs and charisma. Everyone is friendly and this can be said for new classes as well. Everyone has the attitude that if someone does not have a particular ingredient everyone shares what they have. Big thumbs up for this course. I bought the first one as a Xmas pressie for my father in law and just thought I would tag along for the moral support but loved it so much that I paid for both of us for the next 3 terms as well.

- What we are taught is extremely relevant. The course can be difficult because there is an enormous amount of info and practical knowledge and skills which are covered.
- Student facilities *****
- The practical facilities are excellent but budget constraints can cause shortfall in ingredients for completing some of the recipes.
- Social life *****
- I do look forward to the classes, professional cookery still seems predominantly male activity. There is nowhere to socialise except the food court.

- Student facilities ***
- Cooking utensils are available and the kitchen is reasonably spacious. The kitchen is located in Cardiff High School and is used by the school children during the day.

- At each session we cover several recipes as we cook a starter, two main courses and a dessert. The teaching is very professional but a friendly atmosphere is created so we enjoy the sessions as well as learning a lot. The course is good value for money and includes dinner with wine each evening and being able to take away one of the main dishes we have cooked. We are given a recipe book with over 90 recipes. These recipes are easy to follow and I have found them popular with friends.
- Student facilities *****
- We cook in pairs and each pair has their own oven, hob, utensils, dishes etc. There are three experienced teachers who demonstrate and are then on hand to supervise and give advice. There are up to 14 students on a course.
- Social life *****
- I very much look forward to each session as does my wife when I return with the dish I have cooked and new recipes. A lot is covered on each session so no time is wasted. At the end we have dinner together and so can socialise. We get on well with each other because the cooking is fun, the friendly atmosphere and the feeling of achievement. My fellow studnts are mainly in their 20-30s. I am the only 'senior citizen' on the course.
