I?ve never been a great fan of exercise classes and every time I?ve had a go at aerobics classes, I given up after the first couple of sessions. I wanted to do to do some form of stretching/toning exercise however, and so I signed up for the Pilates class at South Thames College, where I discovered an altogether calmer, more relaxing and rewarding experience. I knew very little about Pilates before I started the class but I?d heard about the toning benefits and that it could improve posture. As a complete novice, I was worried that I?d be forced to contort myself into strange yoga-like positions, but the teacher was terrific and was very gentle with the beginners. In fact the teacher?s enthusiasm and knowledge (plus her patience) were to a great extent what made this such a fun and rewarding class. I was by no means a natural and some of the more advanced exercises took me a while to get to grips with, but I felt noticeably more relaxed and supple at the end of each class. It was great to attend an exercise class that was relaxed and where you could take things at your own pace but which also really seemed to make a difference.

The teacher Martine is fantastic, she has the power to relax you only with her tone of voice! The course was well balanced with 70% of practice and 30% of theory.

Informative and friendly class. The course is every Wednesday. The tutors invited us to fill out an anonomous questionnaire at the start of the course to ask what we wanted to get out of the course, what we wanted to learn, how much we wanted to pay each week on the wines. And tailored the course to meet our responses.

The college is in a central location near Putney Railway Station. The college has excellent security, all students have photo id cards, and must scan into the college. Admin staff are friendly and helpful. We have full access to the libraries if we want to.
    Social life *****
I look forward to every Wednesday evening. All the other students are friendly, all age ranges. I think we will keep in touch and socialize with some of the other students after the course has finished.

Due to the accelerated nature of the course, we didn't have enough time to adequately cover the entire syllabus, plus the group was quite large, restricting the one-on-one time. Absence wasn't adequately provided for.
